I just put a vernier on my bars, front is 1" and rear is 7/8"

i picked up the 36mm or 1.42inch front bar from the dealer $89.00 for a firebird, bought some poly bushings from summit for the huge bar. Then for the rear i bought the BMR swaybar which is 1.375 inch for $100 and bolts to factory locations, just remove replace. I dont know how well it all works yet since my car is way different than most. I am attempting to build a pro touring big block 78 monte. So i guess my handeling will be way different than a normal sbc monte, so we will see??

For a big block car, you did the right thing with the big rear bar. It will help neutralize the front heavy nature of this setup. Remember that adding roll stiffness at one end of a car or the other will tend to make that end turn in more quickly. By adding to the rear, it reduces frontal plow or understeer. As for how different it will be compared to a small block, that all depends on what the engine weight difference is and what you do to compensate. Aluminum heads, a lighter hood or bumper, battery relocation, and any accessories you may choose to run without will all contribute to how well balanced it is. A SBC MC has a 60/40 weight distribution, if memory serves.

Well i already have a 78 monte and the 78-80 montes are the lightest ones built, already have a fiberglass hood, stock aluminum trunk lid, the motor has alumbinum heads also, the bumpers do not have the hydraulic shock absorber thingys like the later years did. I am not gutting the car it has full interior, all power options like windows locks sunroof etc. plus i do have A/C in it still, S10 serpentine belt setup, 13" C5 vette brakes up front, 12" LS1 brakes out back, built up 8.5" rear end. Have all of the various frame braces that came on any a/g-body made
