Guys,

Who has dyed/polished/painted their plastic front wheel wells? What did you use? How did it go? How has it held up? Mine look o.k. after cleaning them up. I'd love to paint/dye them but I don't want to make my problem worse by spraying something on there that is just going to get beat up or chip off. Pics are strongly encouraged. Thanks!

Great post....i would like to know this as well. I cut all the factory nubs off of mine, did some plastic welding with a solder gun, bodyworked and smoothed them since i don't have the need for anything on them. Close to painting them but curious about the best product to spray them with. Hopefully somebody chimes in.

I recall Elco Warren aka Bumpin'1 ohm, did a build thread and covered the work he performed on his inner wheelhouses. They came out fantastic. I believe it was on Gbody central.
This should be the link to his build thread. As you can see, he's very detail oriented.

Thanks for posting that. The epoxy primer and 2000 grit sandpaper is a bit much for a driver. I really like how the satin VHT rollbar and chassis paint looks. I wonder how well it sticks.

I also recall Elco's Showcar wheel wells, they were flawless but for me I wanted something close to the stock look and filled all the holes on mine with plastic epoxy weld and then used a satin or low gloss black made for plastic and painted the entire wheel well and they have held up fine from when I did them probably 12+ years ago and to me look factory.
There might be a picture on here somewhere.

Has anyone ever used the Krylon Fusion paint for this purpose? It is supposedly meant for plastics, but not sure how durable it would be for something like wheelwells.
I know Krylon used to have a great reputation, and I've used their paints in the past with excellent results, but don't know if the quality is still there.

i did it to my plastic fan shroud. it turned out pretty nice. i used a product called gone to clean it up. then used scotch bright (green) one. then washed it with dawn dish washing liquid. let it dry then sprayed it with bulldog promoter i sprayed it with high temp paint satin black from auto zone then sprayed it with a low lster to get the dull shine. i have used this on my plastic interior trim and holds up to scratches good.

I know this doesn't answer your question,but there are carbon fiber ones available from G-Body Parts,kinda pricey but they would be a nice addition under the hood;
