Well indiana has to be the most relaxed concerning inspection. Ive never had one any vehicle. I heard this us coming to an end but I've heard that since I was a teenager. No way this truck passes any inspection lol. I told the guy I didn't want it. He talked me into at 2k. From what i see at 47k miles on the market the drivetrain is worth that. Im probably gonna put a flatbed on it like i did my 84 Sierra. Drive it until my cars done or find a cheap clean truck body from someones "ls"swap. Right on for the responses.
If it is any comparison, I don't let my truck idle hardly at all and mine is at 1300 hours at 47k miles. 2860 hours probably isn't terrible though, since this thing likely hasn't seen over 50mph for most of its life.

So i bought the truck. Its got new gas lines and brake lines So im thinkin it should hold a little while. I got in the onboard display and it says it has 287.5 hrs. I edited my earlier post because i thought i seen it wrong at his house so i switched it to 2860. I dont understand how it has 287hrs 47k miles on the dash and 42k on the car fax and title. If you 47000÷287 is 164 mph right?
Worst case the engine and trans is worth $1500 and you can scrap the truck for $500 so if it is junk you aren't much money out. For 2K if you have the room it's worth it.

Well ive been driving the truck everyday since purchase. I cant complain about anything. I put 2 new tires and a gas cap out of the junkyard(cel was on) the truck drives straight no pulls or vibration. Fires right up every morning. I checked all the brake and fuel lines and theyre all new.
For 2k I feel like i stole it. I got on kbb for SnGs. It booked for 9800 in fair condition. That was the lowest i could pick. My question is about insurance. I was gonna pul plpd on it, but if it blue books for 9800 would they have to give me 9800 in case of it totaled out? Thanks for all the responses. The dice seem to have been kind to me this time.
Basically that truck grades in "poor" condition - if you took the condition quiz the site would say they won't value it.
2 choices if you really care: 1) get it appraised rust and all and insure it for that agreed value, or, 2) if something happened fight over betterment charges (deductions in value for existing damage)
I guess there's option 3 - spray foam the heck out of it, then trim and skim bond over the foam and prime. Then keep it washed down with fluid film. It'll look prettier and make it harder for panels to tall off until they rust away from the bondo.
I think your right. I was telling my stepdad when the adjuster came out it wouldn't be worth 9800 lol. Theres not a low enough condition to pick online.I put the state minimum on it. Im just makin sure he wasn't right. Im not worried about the truck. Thanks for answers fellas.
