in the Desert!
Hey guys been a while since I've been on since my computer at home took a dump. I'm at work trying to sneak in some posts.

Here's the situation on the way to work I was on the freeway and the seatbelt light started dinging and car lost all electrical power in the cabin. Slowed down and cruised it to the off ramp and seemed to idle fine. So I decided to try to make it to work since I was only a block away, seat belt light came off and all seemed normal. I gave it gas and as soon as I reved up a little it started to stumle and died on me. Now I have no power on the inside. I cant even roll the windows up and when I turn the ignition nothing. I had to push it into an apartment complex and leave it there with the windows down and walk the rest of the way to work.

I checked the voltage on the battery and it reads 13.XX and I checked the fuse box for blown fuses and they all seem fine. Any ideas on what it may be? I dont want to leave it there too long as someone might break into it.

it's the wires that go to the starter with the fusible links...it happened to me the other day but I have a remote solenoid so it was an easy fix

Is there anyway to bypass the fusible link if its bad just so I can get it home?

the fusible link is just a wire of a smaller gauge so it fries first. You can replace it with an in-line fuse to get it home. The connection on the starter might have corroded cause it sounds like you got the power back for a bit. If it was the fusible link it wouldn't have done that.

and as tc1959 pointed out, it's a good place to start but I wonder if it could also be your ignition switch

I just changed the alternator and battery cable on the car last week. So it might just have gotten loose. I recall only the battery cable and a smaller wire go to the starter. If Im not mistaken that smaller wire goes back to the alternator right?

there are two wires with fusible links plus the battery cable and one other smaller wire for the starter solenoid switch
