polished or chrome wheels..

Ordering them from coys was easy got them in 7 days mounted and balanced, no problems with coys... Fed-ex has lost the lug nuts but that is minor. I am putting them on an 86 Monte LS. The car is white, and was bone stock till earlier this week. I will post pics as soon as I get my suspension back together and wheels mounted up. Coys staff was great and prices are right on the website so there are no surprises when ordering.

Oh and about the chrome finish, it is top of line. I have had chrome AR, KMC and different brands of wires, and Coys is definately quality. Finish doesn't look wavy or cloudy.

bro, your gmc is sick

Thanks man, i appreciate it. now i just have to make my gbody look that good. needless to say, its not in remarkable condition. lol.

Price is an obvious advantage for polished. On thing nobody has yet to mention is the extra weight associated with chrome wheels. Additional rotating mass is certainly something to consider.

But in my experience polished doesn't last long before they cloud up, even with proper care and polishing. Chrome OTOH seems to last much longer before they start noticeable flaking and pitting, but you have more cost and weight.

Screw it and go with hubcaps!!

BTW, that Sierra kicks booty....

What color is the Monte you're putting the wheels on? That makes a difference. I would go chrome... polished just looks cloudy after awhile.

...

If you need help with wheel/tire sizing just let me know. My wheels dont rub anywhere and there were no mods for them to fit.

Also something to consider if you go 18's out back, it will look good, but you see the puny drum brakes. Same with the fronts.. it makes the factory brakes look alot smaller not to mention stop ALOT WORSE.. Dont sweat it though... just plan on making the stop alot sooner.

My monte is the factory burgundy/maroon. ...technically its nowhere near factory. very oxidized and flat. however, i am going to paint it back the way it used to be. and im not really sure whether that would look better with polished or chrome. ive never seen any 78/79 montes with my color and aftermarket wheels (granted, i havent really looked until recently). but your car is a pretty dark red, and i love the way it looks with your wheels.

now that you mention it, i was going to ask about wheel/tire sizing. i think i may follow your example and do the 17x8 and 17x9.5. i just really like how yours came out. but what about backspacing? and what size tire are you running/would you recommend?

i drove the monte for the first time yesterday, and i can see how crappy the brakes are going to be with bigger wheels. so i think ill stay on the conservative side of things and replace stock brake parts as budget allows.

I would go with chrome then. Easier to clean plus it'll look good against a dark color. I dont think you can get the Coys in a 17x9.5 though. Might have to do 8" all the way around. If so, I'd run 4" of backspace. and 245/45-17 up front and a 255/45-17 or a 255/50-17 out back.

Yeah it looks like i might just have to pay the extra cash and get chrome. either way, i dont think ill be too disappointed. well i already have the stock hubcaps. thats what im trying to get rid of! lol

the c-5 coys dont come in 17x9.5. but im also considering going with the c-55's, which are available in 17x9.5. if i go with those, the only backspacing available is 5.5. thats essentially the same as a 17x8 with a 4" backspace, right?
