oh, it ain't a silly idea. i think somebody already mentioned the duramax powered GN. and i'v seen a fox body mustang in the mags with a d-max that was slaughtering the gassers on the track.
and of course there's gail banks http://www.bankspower.com/news/show/38-2500-Horsepower-Unleashed

IIRC, hot rod or one of the other mags did a feature on a TT'd dynomax in a chevelle last year.... sweet ride!

yeah I did lol ... my idea includes boxing and strengthing the frame, air bags and a 3/4 ton rear - G-body tow rig

The Grand Prix introduced the 5.7 diesel option in 1981 which was also the year the A/G cars were given there new bodies. The diesel cars benefitted from extra sound insulation, HD F-40 springs, thicker carpet, guage package minus tach and aluminum hood, radiater support and bumper backing plates. It's possible they may have even got aluminum rear drums like the Regal turbo coupe but this is uncertain. Most GP diesels I have seen are from 1981 and 82, usually in LJ or Brougham trim levels with terrible 2.29: rear ends.

Putting a desel in a car is a real stupid idea. Same as hugging your dog while it sh*ts in the yard. at least put oil on its head to lubricate the day. lmao

First off it diesel... Second I'd love to see you make as much power as you can with a diesel, for the same price, and boost your fuel economy to boot... Lets say full blown streetable Cummins 5.9L, vs. a comparable size V8... hell actually you can use any size V8... The stupid diesel is going to come out on top, you'll still be able to run it on regular old diesel, you can tow with it, your not going to filling it up every day, and it'll out live a heavily built V8 in the long run...

Diesels are far from stupid, but I do agree with you about hugging your dog while he sh*ts... that is...
