when i look at the pics in the article, that car shows a hood scoop, where the above pic does not have the hood scoop. maybe more than one prototype?
upon further review, the above pic is of a hot rod magazine project car. but i still like it.
Wow, That's cruising in 2nd! I tend to only do the Speed these vehicles were made for 55-65. Tops.
Maybe it was a Firebird then, the guy with the ad said Trans-Am. I know nothing about them except the 78-81 LeMans.
You guys are making me want a Grand Am now. As for a Buick turbo six in a factory Monte I have one.
Does not look like that any more though. It was too boring to drive, so I made the the turbo six into an awesome little engine. If you like odd stuff check out my build thread. Sunk N Blow Monte Thread.

That is only the second one I have ever seen. The first was sitting in a back yard with a blown head gasket. Turbos are great cars for what they were designed for. They will never equal the brute force of a 455-SD but apples to oranges.
I am half way there. I swapped the '81 nose onto my Bonnewagon and it has a 4 speed stick shift. I also have a real 1980 Turbo 301 stashed away and another manual flywheel to fit it. I have been thinking of putting the Turbo motor in but I would need to have the time to experiment with it. Don't forget that the early Turbo cars had no computer performance assistance and were boost limited for warranty reasons. Guys waited for the warrany to expire then fooled with the wastegate trying to up the boost and promptly blew head gaskets. Much has changed since then. The guys over at 301Garage.com have been getting incredible performance from the Turbo 301's. But like anything else it requires a substantial investment in time and money.
These photos were shared with me 10 years ago. Story was their grandfather bought the car new. Arizona or New Mexico I think. Probably dealer or owner applied.
