Threads like this give encouragement to those on tight budgets to show them nothing is out of their reach. It takes more ingenuity and more thought to get it done with a little money but stretched over time it can be done....🙂

Big dreams, small budget. That's me. Lol

Not being able to throw money at a project does make things more difficult but the challenge can be fun. Knowing how to get similar results at a fraction of the cost takes time though.
I've got some ideas for the V8 that will be going in the car someday. I'm hoping to build a 300+ HP small block on a budget too.

I wish my dad was still around. He was great at fixing/making/building things cheap. I learned a lot from him but I know there was still lots of stuff that he never had a chance to show me. Life is short. You can't let being poor stop you from enjoying your passions.

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I wasn't sure if anybody would even be interested in what I was doing when there are so many nice, clean, good looking builds, and really sharp finished cars on here to look at.

In the same boat, never started one because I feel it's nothing special. Thanks for sharing yours, maybe I'll toss a thread up about mine one day.

You should do it man. If nothing else, you can document your progress. Judging from the response I got though, you may be surprised how many people will be interested.

Hey, we have all been there. But, one life lesson I learned, trust me it's always the hard way for this guy, I was too picky and wanted things just a certain way... not really sure if it was for me, or for what other people would think?

But, for me, when I just basically said "I have to do this" it turned out okay, nobody seemed to notice the flaws I was hung up on, they see the whole picture, or car for that matter. I am not gonna hi-jack this thread, but, having car you enjoy driving and like to tinker with is really rewarding. Now, I was always afraid my stuff would turn out like what is now considered "Roadkill" style...but those guys are having fun with what they having and making it work.

I also enjoy seeing what other guys are doing, how they solve he problems they encounter. I am a car guy, a motor head or gear head, I really like checking them all out. I was reminded of all this just recently by starting to daily drive a '78 Malibu again.

there are more people doing their builds they same way as you are, I started mine on the regal a few years ago, but work on it has stalled for other projects, and the thread is probably stalled in purgatory right now.....Keep it going, most don't realize that this helps motivate ourselves, and as we get older, helps us remember what we did and what we did it with, and when we did it. pics help for reference as well. glad to see that alot of us think the same way on things we choose, as my regal, cutlass, and grand prix are full of junkyard purchases (including impala springs to replace the sagging ones on the grand prix)!

i used B body springs (impala ss) on both my montes. it lifts the rear about 2-3 inches. gave me that raked look i was going for.

You remind me of myself back in the day, I didn't have a lot of $$ but got pretty good at buying , selling, flipping, to support my habit. Couldn't afford new parts but managed to find what I needed. Soon you will be one of the go to members. Buy the way thanks for your service on the sight. I was going to build a monte drag car but having second thoughts because the car I have is just too nice to cut to chop up.
