Boston Ma.
happy fourth!! Snapped fan belt
One broke, One fell off
One nowhere to be found.

Heard a bit of fan belt squeal after I replaced the new hood.

Thinking….. i replaced the cowl fiberglass hood…… for the flat steal
created excessive heat. Or ? Cheap belts !

How can I avoid this issue. Stock 267
Small block A/C

Thanks guys

Belt condition, tension and alignment are all part of keeping V-belts on and make sure the water pump is in good working condition , worn bearings can throw a belt.
And also where is your fan shroud?

Have you been watching ROAD KILL again?
Stock engine fan belts don't get thrown because of hood styles, factory or other.

Thanks for the reply! I’m great full for this forum!
That said. I’m getting a electric ⚡️ one real soon .
I will look into the Alignment and tensioning of the V-belts and I must check the water pump. Thanks. Dez

Ha! Is there a fan belt company that you like. As I just get what’s available in the nearest Advanced Auto. I believe they are made in Mexico?

Electric fan? Honestly if you are keeping the 267 the clutch fan is more than adequate to cool that beast with a stock shroud.

Interesting. I have a buddy of mine whom is showing me the ropes. He said the same. I will pick one up real soon. As I intended to keep that 267 for a bit.
Thanks for the input. As I’m learning.

Just get a factory Chevy fan shroud and make sure the fan clutch, water pump and radiator are in good working condition, and you shouldn't have any cooling issues with that engine.

I will thanks

Alignment issue would be my guess. I have chased this for years in the monte but I dont start tossing belts ( denting hoods, overheating, smoking AC compressors etc until north of 5500 rip m s ). The Serp belt conversion for the Alternator from an 86 Up Gbody Cutlass or S10 really helped. It still leaves the PS and AC on a V groove belt. 267 or even a 305 should be fine with the v belts
