Just curious what you guys are running with your OLDS engines at the track. I don't care about Chubby powered Cutlasses, so let's just focus on Olds powered Cutlasses shall we.

As soon as i get my car on the track again, I'll have those times posted 8) hope its just under 16 with my 307

yea, give me a little time also, my cutlass isnt ready for the track yet but i should be in the mid to high 12 seocnd range.

haha same boat as you guys, havent been to the track with the new setup, ill make it out soon though.

Went 7.40's with a mild 455
Funny thing is.... took it out and put the motor in a 72 (heavier) Cutlass and it went 7.20's

I think the older Cutlass' just get better traction than GBody's

Nah....
The 72 had a 350 trans and a 4.11 gear with a tighter converter for the more torguey 455.
The 83 had a powerglide with a 4800 converter and a 4.56 gear. The converter/gear combo was more suitable for a small block chevy than a torque monster.
And I figured a small block in a G body is fairly common. A small block Chevy in a 72 442????? Well let's just say it was a no brainer which motor went in which car...LOL

Yea bet the 455 didn't like the stall or gear at all. I like the color & wheels. What et mph does that typically translate to in the quarter.

I mean the actual car itself seems to get a better launch than a GBody. I had a friend up in MI that has a Regal with the 572 crate engine and he only runs mid 12's at Miland. Not sure what gear he runs. I do know he runs the factory rear suspension setup, aftermarket arms and whatnot, but the factory design with an 8.5" :? Just doesn't make sense to me sometimes. That car should run a whole lot faster. But then you'll see factory Buick GS 455 go out and run the same times

Would a Pontiac powered Cutlass be allowed to play?
