I picked up a new Olds timing cover.

Should I have it powder coated?

Will the powder coating be Ok since it will be sitting in coolant all day long?

Thanks

I've painted new covers with regular engine paint without issues of paint flaking off and floating around in the coolant. Never had an issue. You almost kind of want a coating on them to help reduce potential rust issues.

I'm not thinking powdercoating is going to cause any issues at all. Like any coating, it's all about the prep.

Well so far I got one quote and the guy said "around" 100 buxx.

If thats the going rate, looks like i will be painting it

Do you think this would be OK to spray the inside/timing chain side of the cover with?

Or should I use an engine paint?
