Unfortunately neither of these combinations are correct. I tried both tonight. After extensive testing of all the circuits and their functions, this is what I’ve determined:

View attachment 237095

The closest I can get it to being correct is how I currently have it wired:

Orange (terminal A on switch) to +12V

Black (terminal B on switch) to ground

Both yellows (terminal C on switch, and terminals D on the mirrors) spliced together.

Both blues (terminal D on switch, and terminals A on the mirrors) spliced together.

Green (terminal E on switch) to terminal C on left mirror

White (terminal F on switch) to terminal B on left mirror

Green (terminal G on switch) to terminal C on right mirror

White (terminal H on switch) to terminal B on right mirror

This results in the left and right sides actuating the proper sides, but the functions are 90 degrees off on the switch. If I put the selector to the left mirror,I have to physically turn the switch 90 degrees to the right to get the functions to move in the correct directions.

The opposite occurs with the right mirror, I have to turn the switch 90 degrees to the left to get the functions to move in the proper directions. If I attempt to wire the switch and mirrors color to color, it’s way out of whack. That’s how I tried configuring it initially. The up function for the right mirror would result in a left movement on the right mirror and all sorts of other weird reactions.

Help, how do I fix this!?!? I’m closer than I was last night, but it’s obviously still not right.
Something’s off here. Went and dug a little into old wiring diagrams, and I think you have a Vette setup, not a 3rd Gen one.
Your listed colors are identical to my harnesses from the C4 I robbed.
Could you post a photo of the switch you’re using?

Not to throw anothing wrench in things but Im posting these to see if theyll help. I used these diagrams to get an idea on how things worked when it came to the motors and the switch. I used a Caprice switch and Fiero mirrors but I cant imagine things are much different to be honest. Its been a few years and a few beers since I did this so I dont recall exact setup but I do remember just having to match up what each wire did, writing down the terminal spot and wire color then piece together the harness as needed. I know this is what youre doing now, just throwing these out there to maybe assist. Feel free to reach out with further questions. Happy to help further.

No, get Corvette out of your head entirely, these are most definitely 3rd Gen F body, specifically 1990 Camaro. I know because I bought them from a Camaro specialist. The switch and mirror motors both.

This is the switch:

I make no promises to rid my mind of the Corvette fever 🥴

I find it odd that you’re not able to plug and play with these since they’re matched. Go with what ELCAM said to do, I’m still scratching my head over this.

You’re saying repin the motor plugs swapping D with A?

Correct.

You should need to do only one side to see if it works.

Well, we’re much closer now!

I swapped A and D at the mirror plug by de-pinning and re-pinning them, but that resulted in zero reaction from either mirror. So I went back into each plug and swapped B and C as well.

That resulted in the left and right movements being correct in each mirror! Wonderful! The up and down movements are still reversed however. Pushing up on the switch results in down movement and vice versa.

What next? Are there 2 other sets of wires that need their positions swapped? Perhaps A for C and B for D or something? We’re so close…

If eveything came from a Camaro it all should of worked on the first try. I'm wondering if there is a difference between the Camaro & Firebird with the mirrors being from a Firebird. But I'm also thinking all that use these mirrors (F, B, Vette, Fiero) should have the same motors & should be plug & play.

Yeah, it’s definitely odd to be sure. But it’s also apparently not the first time this has occurred to other people. My searches of the web have resulted in many people reporting the same types of issues with no resolution. If we can get this figured out, I think we’ll be among the first.

I’m wondering if the vendor I bought them from supplied an earlier or later year of switch, because that appears to be the only variable. But I wouldn’t think there’d be that much difference between years. The mirror motors have the factory original date stamps of 1990 on them.

The only other thing I’ve noticed between what you guys have posted and mine are that the switch wires are all solid colors. No black tracers on any of them. Which is why I think UC645 thinks it’s a C4 switch.

Swap C for D on the motor connector, that should make it do the opposite of what it is doing now.

My C3 mirrors us the same colors for both sides with the motors but different for the motors to switch warness. Now the harness sections I have from the W body Montes have the solid color for one side, striped on the other side which is the same for the Roadmaster switch. Then there is the motors as some cars use the same for both sides & some have a left & right motor which will have different color wires for each side. There are alot of variables added when swapping parts from other models as I've experianced. Right now I'd suggest to start over, run a test light off each switch wire to ensure its function when using the adjustment pad. This way you'll know what does what when left or right is on. Then try each mirror on both sides in case the motors were put into the wrong side.
