problem picking up speed

I have a 88 monte carlo ls with a 305 and a rebuilt 200r4 trans with a shift kit was running fine now when I drive it my rpms will rise but its like the trans is not matching the rpms can you tell me what you think

First thing to check is to make sure the tV cable has been adjusted properly. Also make sure you have the correct cable bracket for the carb you are using.

Check the fluid level and make sure it doesnt look or smell burnt.
