It's gloss black, not flat black.
The factory did some very crappy paint line and rock guard tape off jobs. It's not uncommon to find wavy lines. Badly.
I took nominal measurements, (average distance) had my painter use 3/4" to straighten up all the lines on the rock guard and paint break lines.
