1. Ive got a hellova oil leak out the intake ive gotta fix
2. I ordered a autometer speedometer today, and im going to make a custom guage panel to fit my cluster.
3. I need to replace some steering components
4. I need an alignment to the wheels so I dont wear out my brand new tires

1. how are you plannin on fixing your leak? is the leak out the gasket, bolt hole or somewhere else?

3. What are you replacing?

good job btw, at 16 I was buying radios and subs, and you're building a whole car :notworthy:

I will always like those big old hearses. I have this idea of building one, then when I die, have that one drive me to the grave. That one is nice, and the Elky isn't bad, at least what I can see from the pic.

haha, write "drive me to my grave" on the windsheild lmao

I don't like that, more like "the last ride" or "my time". I'd go with a high gloss black with black cherry ghost flames. Would probably use a 67 Caddy hearse, always was partial to the headlights on top and bottom, not side by side. Plus I love the interiors on the old 60's cars.

I guarantee your intake manifold is probably cracked just like mine went. Same thing happened, but it was only smoking a little. Yours may have a larger crack then mine did, my crack was very small but that will do it. take the aircleaner/carb off and give it a look over, but you probably wont actually SEE a crack, so you might have to give in and take it off. good luck fixing that problem, and I'm only 21 trying to work on the same car, I'd highly recommend getting up under the car and really looking at your control arms before you open anything up or that hearse might come in handy. I'm waiting to get enough money together rt now to replace mine and my sway bars because I just figured out I was riding bogus previously, took the car on a 800 mile trip AND ran over a brick without knowing my ctrl arms were rusted almost completely through.

hmm.. I have had it off before, and Ive got to take it off again to fix a mild oil leak. Its a alluminum edelbrach intake, but you think it may have a crack in it and that would cause the smoking? Im tempted to get a new intake / cam that match anyway, so maybe Ill look into that.

1. take off the intake buy a new gasket, and try it again ( I didnt torque them to any specific number, so Ill do it right this time.

2. As far as suspension, idk yet, Im not really sure what the peices are, my mechanic didnt know either but just told me they were bad because theres a lot of play in them.

lol, I did my stereo in my daily driver at 15, so I got that out of the way early. lol

well, update: started tearing the dash apart once again to figure out how im going to make my new guage cluster, but so far its going pretty smooth, I borrowed a freinds dremel so now, Ive just gotta start making the modifications I need so I can fit my guages in.

You may want to get another mechanic. At a minimum he should know the names of the parts.

its not going well at all... Im taking a few days to think about it, before I work any more on it. Its looking like finding a rallye gauge back and installing it is going to make a lot more sense. the turn signals dont seem to work unless the cluster is installed, so its not going as planned.

update: the blowby under the hood concerned me, so I brought the car to a professional mechanic. Turns out Ive got no compression in 2 cylendars, and low compression in a few others. SO for now, ive got another sbc im gunna either rebuild, or just put in my car once i find out whether its a 350 4bolt or not.

I think once i figure this out, im going to get the car painted, interior done, tinted, wheels, steering fixed them im going to focus on building a 400+hp motor.
