It's the sloppy stage 2 cam everyone raves about... It's made by Elgin for Jeg's. We shall see!

I had one that I swapped between three different engines. Two of them shat out cam bearings. I don't know if mine was just a tiny bit on the big side of acceptable or what. I threw it out with the last block it twisted the bearings out of. Truth be told I actually prefer the mid-range torque that the stock cam provides. This is in a turbo application, and my car makes 540+ lb/ft at the tires with the stock bumpstick. In a N/A application it could be a different animal.

Looks like us Upstate guys are going to see how they work. My SS2 started running this past weekend in my $225 4.8. Hopefully Streetbu will be soon as well.

Admittedly though, the SS2 is more of a turbo grind than one for a NA build. The 6.0 will benefit from more exhaust duration. And log tubes accentuate the need for more exhaust duration.

Richard Holdener has been threatening some testing with the SS2 in comparisons to the BTR and Tick spec'd grinds. Anxiously awaiting.

Yes, this cam isn't perfect, but I just might have some forced induction in my future so I wanted to plan for it now 😎

My son built an engine cradle to roll the 6.0L around the shop easier. One more to build for the 5.3L. LOL I had to get a three jaw puller to get the balancer off. Harbor freight special works just fine. Was kind of surprised I didn't have one already. So I'm at the point where I need to decide how sloppy or "correct" I'm going to go. I was planning on doing this as cheap as possible and reuse gaskets etc but I really don't want oil leaks. The lifters trays are brittle, I'm missing one head gasket already since it only came with one head.... Think I'll have to order a gasket set :/

In other news 64nailhead checked the valve springs I bought and they all checked the same as each other and about 10% less pressure than new which is to be expected. So they are good to go. Thanks again for checking them for me!

I've been up and working in the garage since 7am today. It was still a disaster zone from the house build. Trying to reclaim it... Got the first engine I bought torn down. I'm using these heads on the 6.0L to bump the compression.

Engine stand #2 built and both short blocks stashed away under my work bench 😁

The parts fairy showed up again. So I'll let the pics do the talking. Oh and BTW, I ordered it from Amazon & it was $140 cheaper than the Holley alternative. 🤣

I'm an Amazon fan, or at least have been in the pre-Covid era (bought a BW turbo there CHEAP), but the last 3 things I have bought have taken 3-4 weeks to show up. Somewhat silly that I can't get a race car part so someone can get a roll of TP.........SMH :) :)

Also, is that a 4.8 LY2? If yes, I might be interested in it.
