I think I like this. It matches the angle of rear of the wagon.

May cause a blind spot though.

Are you putting glass or metal in the opening?

I'll probably make a mock-up panel for 3" straight and just tack it and post a pic. I don't only get to work on it on the weekends. I do agree I don't like the slant very much but my friend that was helping me did. I just think the 3" breaks up the wide peice of glass

Since you are using glass I would make some cardboard cutouts for a more precise look.
Measure twice cut once type deal.

If you were making a panel truck type I would leave the pillar the way it is and then on the inside weld in some ribs

I agree. A bulky B pillar will not offer as much visual balance to the profile. You could splice in El Camino door glass, drip rails, and B pillars for a swept look (but that is a lot more fabrication), and it may become too busy and may still look quite clunky like your taped options; or a try 5-15* kick out at the bottom of the thin B pillar you have now. There enough sharp angles on the Regal that you could pick up from to achieve your aim.
