It's been my main driver for the last couple years. Been splitting commutes between it and the mountain bike all summer. Engine is getting tired though. Still runs good but it's always used oil. Seems to be getting worse as time goes by. I should probably pick up a spare to freshen up on the next PickNPull 1/2 off sale. It's weird that I just never give that car much attention since it's been so reliable.
 
Better than too much attention I guess. I really want a small wagon like that. I recently came across a 1967 volvo amazon wagon. Immediately thought of this. I think it'd(the Volvo) be cool with a ecotec and a 5 or 6 speed manual. It's fun to day dream about anyway lol.
 
An Amazon wagon would be a great car. Not sure I'd even consider an engine swap in one since the B-motor that came in them was amazingly tough. My brother had a 145 wagon that was superior to my 510 in just about every way. His car had 4 wheel power disc brakes, dual carbs, overdrive, in-floor storage, incredible heater, and a super tight body. Even with 335,000 miles on it there were no rattles or squeaks and the doors opened and closed like brand new. My 510 sure can't make any of those claims. The older Volvos were extremely well built cars.
 
Was trolling CL for some large wrenches because I needed a set of 1" and larger for the occasions when I have to borrow from a coworker. Full size truck balljoint nuts mostly. Anyway, ran across an ad for a "tool lot". Here's my haul...

Obviously some just got tossed and much will be used at home but I was stoked about the offset box-ends, the long handled thin profile, small ignition wrenches, and a few specialty sockets. The 3/4" drive socket set is mismatched but almost complete as well as a set of 1/2" and 3/8". I'll probably try to resell the 3/4" stuff since I already have a nice set. Even though they are well used and a couple pieces from the sets are missing, they are almost all quality names. Snap-On, Mac, Cornwell, Proto, S*K, Cresent, Craftsman(old), ViceGrip, New Britain. Even the cheap screwdrivers were USA made. Only a couple were offshore out of the whole pile. Not shown is the bottom of the tub that had probably 50 loose allen wrenches and drill bits, a bunch of screwdrivers and misc crap.

Here's the best part. Total cost...$100.
 
Looks like you got a great deal. Was it a divorce sale or a contents sale ??
 
The guy had a pretty nice Snap-On stack in his home garage where we did the deal. He said he got out of the biz and was getting rid of duplicates. I'm guessing these were from his home tool collection that was getting displaced.

Here's a trivia question for you ........do you know what this special socket is for

 
It's really old Craftsman and has clearly spent some time with a bench grinder. Not sure if that's what it started life as or maybe it was something else that broke and got turned into what it is now. My initial thought was that it might be for adjusting old ('30s-'50s) style Chevy ball and socket type steering linkage. Any ideas?
 
Can’t see any grinding marks from the picture, but it probably started out life as a Drag Link adjusting socket for the 50s-60s Chevy drag links. The old drag links were rebuildable and the socket was used to adjust the preload by turning in the adjusting screw on the end.
