ok so yesterday me and my cousin got my cutlass finally running after a year since it got stolen.. had to find parts for cheap and also but mismatching parts on it..lol ok so i noticed when we fired her up and let her run that she was over heating... so we went to the basics... timing..check... coolant leaks..none....but i did have a mean squeal at the belts.. it was either the alt. belt or the belt from the crank to water pump then to powersteering pump...... so i took off the alt belt..it was still squealing.....noticed that the water pump pulley was being under driven.. the crank was moving faster then the water pump pulley.. any help guys thanks.

Well if it has been sitting for awhile it is a good chance the water pump is gummed up or the bearing is basically seized. This will make it so the pump resists spinning which would cause the squealing.

Take the belt off and try to spin the pump by hand. It should turn very easy, if not replace.

it seems to be spinning freely.. the bearing seems fine.. there is no play in the shaft at all..

if your car got stolen they probably drove it like it was stolen and possibly damaged the engine.....

who ever stole it didnt drive it i know for sure i have kill switches hidden on the frame. also the steering wheel wasnt on it and it had no gas in it.. so im sure they didnt drive it..lol

Was there a lot of slack in the belt? If its too loose, the belt will slip causing the sequel, and the pulley wouldn't turn as fast. An old wore out belt will cause it too. Did you make sure you don't have any air trapped in the cooling system?

ive got the belt as tight as i can get it.. and u can see that the waterpump pulley isnt turning as fast as the crank.. and also there isnt and air in the cooling system.. its freaking crazy
