I have the 3" on the 67. I had to make a side exit out of the bazooka cannons they wanted out the back. It's got RacePros.
I am surprised when things fit right; this wasn't that bad. Trying to cram 3* exhaust in any car can be difficult.

I have 3" pypes x pipe with modified tail pipes since they don't make side exit in 3" (grrrr, stupid)

Fit was overall ok. If you wait theres a place in East coast, ss396 I think? That has $100 pypes exhaust every few months, but that was 2 years ago so it might not be on anymore.
I have a 3.5" diam shaft (giggity) with a safety loop and 3" x pipe and it's not even the lowest part of the car.

Don't be a panzy do the 3"

Cool. Yeah I think the blazer bar is the lowest thing now! After that it's a tie between the TCI 80E pan and the oil pan.
That's the big PITA on the Pypes 3" kit...not having a side exit. The Holley kit fits perfect, but hard to justify that much loot for me!
Then I came across american racing headers and their G body x pipe kit at $1400...good lawd it makes the Holley kit price look like a bargain.

It'll be a bit before I order it, saving up now and with the holidays ahead it'll be tough to swing and keep the wife happy.

Thanks man. I recall you saying the straight out back exit pipes fit like garbage! I forgot to mention I'm gonna be running a header back setup. I don't mind regular duals, but just wanting to change it up, especially since the X pipe has a different sound.
Do you recall which mufflers you bought? From what I've read the Street Pro units drone really bad, and actually the Race Pro's drone less.
The reason you hear about some kits fitting and some not is almost always because each owner has a different take on where he/she wants the tailpipes. If the tailpipes get put in a place where we didn't design them to go, the rest of the system fits terribly. Conversely, if the front of the system is installed first, then the tailpipes usually end up in the wrong spot. Rule of thumb, get tailpipes mounted and then work forward.

As far as the mufflers, sound is very much subjective to the owner but I have used all three different mufflers many times. All performance mufflers has drone at a certain rpm level. You just need to find that range and hopefully be able to drive outside that drone range. I feel the Street Pro has the FM chambered sound at idle and slow speeds but has the least amount of drone at highway speed. The Race Pro's are the opposite. They are quieter at slow speeds and light acceleration but get really loud under full throttle and they can drone really bad.

Drone comes in on cars at certain rpm range based on your transmission and rear.

Hope this helps!

I've been hunting for the right exhaust kit for the Cutlass and having a hard time making a decision.
The Jegs kit isn't on sale right now, so it's only $50 cheaper than the Pypes Kit $500 which has X pipe and side exit which is what I want.
The Holley swap exhaust is amazing and proven to fit, but at $700+ it's a hard sell for this cheapskate! The Summit kit is pretty much the same as the Jegs kit so I'm sure fitment and such is similar.
I looked at kits without mufflers too as I have a pair of Pypes M80 that are basically new, but pretty sure they drone bad at cruising speeds. The other big contender is the Black Widow Venom 250 mufflers which sound really good on cammed motors!!!

I WILL NOT USE FLOWMASTERS!!!! Ran them in the past, as does every other hotrod in town so I'm going a different route.

Any and all feedback is encouraged. Thanks guys.

You officially been given every possible opinion and the exact opposite of that opinion. They fit. They don’t fit. The drone. They don’t drone. They suck. They don’t suck.
Hey, you asked. 😜

What power are you making that justifies dual 3 inch pipes?

600HP???

A pipe is a pipe, what do the mufflers flow and sound like?

This little 5.3 doesn't need a 3" exhaust. With it's current setup being cammed, intake mods, headwork and headers it might be 390hp.
Agreed on the pipes, there are videos on Pypes website and youtube of their mufflers. Evidently the Jegs mufflers are quiet...they're basically a super turbo muffler.

Not yet, finally getting serious about exhaust on this turd. I do know 90% of the shops here don't like working with stainless, and also don't use mandrel benders.
Yeah, I'm being a bit picky but I've spent hundreds over the years on regular aluminized steel pipes and ugly bends and wanna step it up this time.
The one real quality shop that does alot of stainless work will probably be around $1K. I know this because they quoted me $500 just to do a dual tube intake years back.
