so what are you replacing it with ? Or are you like me and have a spare ( or two ) just because you cant not buy them from people who think they are junk and replace it with something that they think they can put on their car and have it run right out of the box ?

I have one of my spare quadrajets on it for now that I just got from another forum member. I helped him set up his new quickfuel carb which seems to be a real nice carb. The one of my car runs lean even with the idle mixture set at in the high 12's. I'm building another one that will work on this engine, then I'll take take the spare one apart to clean it up and check it out.

OK, keep us ( me ) posted. I am still struggling with mid to high 16 A/F ratio at idle and 13-14 everywhere else. Eventually I will get out to see you and pick up those gaskets you have been holding for me for months 😳

can you adjust the idle to get 14.7 or close to it? If you can and it's running too rich at part throttle then the rods and/or jets need to be changed. Do you know what power piston spring you have.

Have a soft spot 🙁 (former hard on) for Buicks. MY First

GS's Rock!
love me somee Buicks as well. My dad says it was when my mom was still incubating me and they were at the local street races watching a 502 65 chevelle get wasted by a "500hp" white t type. when the cars went by apparently I kicked hard and my dad thought "kickass he's gonna love cars" and low and behold, here we are 19 years later.

I wont know until I get the gasket from you 🙂 I can lean it out to the 14.7 range ( lumpy idle makes it tough ) but then its way fat at everything but idle. Its an Edelbrock 1910 Qjet Carb, supposed to have never been opened. It works just about perfect at every range off idle though so I don't really want to mess with it too much.

I may have missed it -
What is the vacuum at idle?

Note: A totally unique feature is the adjustable cruise air/fuel ratio for part throttle calibration.
