Quadrajet 800 cfm

I have been lucky finding good 800 cfm Qjets, usually on near free mid 70's Olds V8's.

There is/was a 73 455 toronado in one of my junkyard havens and IDK if it has the qjet on it. if it does I'll grab it next time it's there. Should that be an 800cfm? Well, I guess I'll know by looking at it I suppose. Big bump in the primary barrels.

No, it will be a 750 cfm but would be good for a hotter 350. Most 800 cfm, other than the Buick 455 and Super Duty Pontiac 455, came out in 75 and later. You can thank Cliff Ruggles for a lot of the knowledge out there. Also since his book came out, these useless "smog" carbs have tripled in price. I can't believe what people ask for 800 cfm core carbs these days.

it's in and all I had to do was to adjust the idle mixture and idle screw. It runs great and bit on the rich side but nothing that's a concern. I'll leave it as is and change the rods in the winter. The secondaries open up with no bog whatsoever. I would love to take credit for the rebuild, whoever did know what he/she was doing......🙂

So I sold the carb cause I'll never need 800 cfm and I got to stop buying stuff that a nice conversation piece but it's just overkill. I just shipped the carb to a guy in Truro NS and he's putting it in this sweet ride...

If you'd read my signature you'd already know that Overkill is underrated! Lol. Good to see that Quadrajet going on such a nice car.
