Quadrajet choke problem

I replaced the fuse and left the wire unattached from the choke and and it has not blown the fuse. That's why I'm thinking Mark is right about the choke coil being the problem. I very rarely have the key in on position when I'm not driving so I wasn't concerned about bypassing the oil pressure switch. And I just noticed once again I left my multimeter on so I need a new battery again... :wtf:

lol, I've done that 😳 . Wasn't doubting Mark, just throwing out other ideas as quick check. No worries, I have my chokes wired up the same way as you, .

I know you weren't doubting Mark and it's nice that you offered some ideas, I appreciate that. In the summer I have the choke backed right off but now it's cooler out there. I wait as long as I can before I park it so it makes winter seem shorter in my mind..

Yup, cleanup time is here. That's what I did all day today, like take in the hoses and winterize the lawn mowers. Steve, did you try swapping in another coil? Just because the spring is good doesn't mean there isn't a short inside. I'm just thinking like you that since the wire is disconnected, there's no fuse blowing, so naturally I would suspect the choke coil itself.

I swapped the coil out earlier tonite and it's working good. I picked up a battery today for the multimeter so I'll be checking to old one out. I left it in my jeep so I'll have to retrieve it tomorrow. Thanks for all of your help

Good to hear. I'm hoping you find an internal short because if not then it's back to head scratching.

I'll check it and hopefully it answers the question and then I can spend my time scratching my head watching that ball roll around on the structure in your signature..

Glad I'm not alone, I wasn't gonna say it, but I sat and watched it make a complete revolution, I couldn't help it, I just had to watch it, that's a dirty trick Bonne

Just checked the coil and Mark you were right as usual. It was open...thanks and thanks to everyone else for their help.. 😀
