so i decided to stay with a quadrajet for my 350 build.what are the best models to use for a rebuild? i currently have a ccc carb on the car now so i will be ditching it for a non ccc quadrajet.I have heard stay away from the pre 1974 because of warping and tend to run lean,i also heard the same about the 1974 and up,so what is true?

The best carbs will be found on the 403 engines...pre computer..pontiac or olds

but will a carb off a big block be to much for a 350 chevy with mild cam?

depends on the engine....and how it was used. If it was a big block HP engine, then its probably too big. but if it was used in a station wagon, its probably fine...

First of all, the Olds 403 is a small block. Anywho, it's not magic; it's all about the fuel metering and jetting. If I had the funds, I would find a Qjet builder such as SMI and have them build on for me. You could provide your engine specs, gearing & goals and have them build a great carb for you. It's all a money/time tradeoff and also about what you want tweak at yourself, after all this is a hobby.

Also should be noted that the 70's Qjet won't work with CCC system in your car.
Hes ditching the ccc.....so thats not an issue

I missed the fact that he was working on a non-CCC/strip car. He will also need to replace the HEI and do something about the lockup ckt..
