Question About Replacement Hubs With Blazer Brakes

Don't worry about the caps.

Worry about using 4wd hubs and no shaft in the hole.

The 4wd hubs don't stay assembled without the axle shaft through them.

^^ that picture made me LOL. I heard of it happening but never seen anybody do it and fail. As mentioned make sure you are using 2wd hubs and not 4wd. The shaft and nut help hold the bearing together.

The 4wd hubs are larger as well. They push the wheels out farther. Backspacing on a 4wd s10/blazer wheel is 2" deeper than a blazer 2wd wheel

I bought 2wd hubs. The hole through the center is not splined as a 4wd would be. The factory 2wd hubs also had a similar hole in the center. They just had a nice snap in dust cover that filled it. Just trying to find something similar that will fit the new ones. Of course they would make the hole a different size than the originals. Wouldn't want anything to be easy...

Oh my. That blue truck looks like Dingo's car from a Richard Scarry book from my childhood...

i had the same problem - i actually have a 2wd blazer. The oem caps did not fit in the hole. i rtv'ed something in. Also, just a heads up, my raybestos failed early. like 4 months. If you have the same problem, try to get timken. They are usa made and not a lot more. I got mine on ebay. to be honest, i have had a lot of failures with raybestos. their outsourcing led to some less than ideal quality things coming in the boxes i purchased at one time. nothing catastrophic, but i don't use them any more.

^^ Thanks for the input. I hope they last more than 1 summer. They weren't cheap. I guess we'll see how it goes...

I purchased the Detroit Axle 2wd ones. I know that there not the factory ones, but did the factory ones come with a dust cover?

I would probably just cut out a disc of sheetmetal, steel or aluminium to fit in the recessed area and attach it with a good bead of silicone.
