I would buy that 8.5. If you rebuild your rearend, bearings, gears, buy a posi and then have to have to pay to have the gears set up your half way or more to the price of that rearend which is already rebuilt. If the brakes are good on the 8.5 thats another bonus. Good Luck.

thanks guys but ya chris i gonna do that if he still got it i call twice today no answer so try again tommarro but ya i agree allready done and ready to go sounds good to me after watchin the video on youtibe on how to change gears and pinion def gonna need sum special tools to know how many shims are needed and a press for bearings so with all that would be much easier even though would like to learn but mabe later 8.5 g/n is wat i wanted anyways and its only about 3 hr ride i let ya know wat i get and martin wat u want for that posi unit and will that go right into my 7.5 ? thanks for replying everybody much appreciated

oh ya and its a 28 spline 2.41 7.5 martin and chris are the brrakes etc the same as the cutlass cause i bought all new callipers brakes slotted rotors drums master cylynder etc all the fixins new lines everything for my cutlass so couldnt i just swith them over to the 8.5 if i get it or they different ? cause if so man i got already over 500 prob into all my brakes already not even used yet ?

The Gn rear end should be a 10 bolt 8.5. Which is plenty strong enough for all but the all out race cars and even then some people still run it. I am not sure about the brakes. I doubt they are the same but like you said it is not a big deal. The gn rear end will swap right over. No other 8.5 or that I KNOW of will swap over without some modification. If that gn rear end is gone keep looking for another or for a 7.5 that is already posi and ready to go. You will find that most of the time stuff is cheaper to buy already to go as opposed to rebuilding it all your own. Good Luck.
