Rear bumper opinions, everyone come on in!

Blake,
I know what you mean about unobtainium. One of my Euro lenses developed cracks thru the amber portion. They both have some cracking that developed.
Whoever has them, either don't want to give 'em up, or they want your first born for them..
I'm probably going to go back with stock lenses. I have already obtained a nice pair from Kevin (O.D.Showtime). Thanks Kevin! 😀

Jim,
I like the way Ben has his hitch going thru the bumper. I also plan on using a better hitch...maybe a class II. Nothing that bolts onto the bumper. Like you said, the chassis hitch helps tighten up the rear frame rails.

I agree that the Corvette lights are played out.

I do like that look on those, like blake said-as long as no vette/camaro lights are grafted in! def think that some of the caddy led tails would set that apart from the rest of the wagons (as if the w-30 hood didn't do it already! )

Yeah, I have been looking at stock tail light options. Even older Chevelle wagon lights. Right now I am just brainstorming. The W-30 was a must have for me, I still have to figure out how to make the Ram Air work with the Turbo, since the air box on the hood if panned for a carb. :?

It's almost too bad that there wasn't enough area at the ends of the quarter panels to recess a set of taillights. I have once thought of LED strips back there and fill in the bumper- taillight openings. I have seen a photoshop rendering of that a few years back. It actually looked pretty cool.
El Caminos have no problem mounting a set of taillights there. It also happens to look like it was made there.

I've also tried looking at all options like 1st generation Camaro/ Firebird taillights.,,,and early Chevelle wagon taillights. But I think they were mounted into the quarters on those cars.

Jack, I agree. I may end up doing a combination of what a bunch of others have done. Tucking the bumpers in like you have, the making the pocket out of steel like Ed (87GN) did, except it would be the shape of the factory pocket. Then making a plug for the hitch like Ben (SRDart) did.

Jim,
I know whatever you do will come out awesome. You are quite a creative guy..
