Rear Disc Brakes

I think i'm gonna go with the adjustable proportion valve. i also heard you can swap your master cylinder for master cylinder/hydrobooster combo that runs off the p/s pump. kinda like the Humvee's out here run.

Yes, I have a hydroboost setup from Hydratech braking on my '87:

I switched over because it offers more clearance around the valve covers and I thought because of my cam, I was going to need it to run power brakes.

With the hydroboost install all you had to do was run a p/s line from the pump or gear box?

Well, you have the high pressure line that runs from the P/S pump to the hydroboost. Then a high pressure line from the hydroboost to the steering gear box.
You also need a return line from the hydroboost that either goes back directly to the P/S pump resevoir or Tee'd into the steering gear box return line.

Fex3-clone (Andrew) Are you still using an adjustable in-line proportioning valve along with your distribution block? It appears I have the same distribution block you have (Summit racing made for disk brakes The right stuff brand) But I am running a adjustable valve as well. I would think it would depend on size of rotors, what calipers your using, as well as size of rear tires, Weight of vehicle, etc. That's why I threw the adjustable in as well, so I could fine tune it. Just curious what your doing and if you think a person needs anything beyond that distribution block.

What I did was actually take the distribution block and completely gut it. It's really only there now so that I have a convenient place to connect the brake lines.

But the adjustable valve will handle all of the proportioning of the rear brakes.

I am using the adjustable because of the previously mentioned variances. I just don't understand how someone could make a one size fits all application for this. Too many variables. Thanks!

I agree. If you want the maximum braking from your vehicle, you almost need an adjustable valve. Tire sizes and compounds would drastically change the braking of a vehicle. If you had just a standard off the shelf valve that was say setup for small street tires, then you'd be leaving a lot of braking on the table if you upgraded to a set of wide, sticky race tires that could handle more brake pressure before lock up.
