What is everyone's thoughts on converting from drum to disk on a 83-88 Monte SS? I plan on changing out the rear end out anyway how much harder would the conversion be? Other than the straight forward parts that need to be replaced what else is needed? Would i need a new master cylinder?

There are a number of ways to do it factory and aftermarket. You can get aftermarket rear-ends already set up with disc brakes. And yes you will have to change the master cylinder and the propositioning valve as well. You will just have to talk to the Manufacturers and suppliers .Of what ever way you choose.

You can do it for under 200 bucks with calipers that match the front.

Allstar 42180 and 42181, 2 front calipers, 2 rear 93-77 f body rotors, and a disc/disc combo valve like summit 760185, which I have been told is the same as any 4 wheel disc F body combo valve.

I don't know if it matters but I will be looking to put in a 12 bolt rear to replace the stock 7.5 inch.

Standard 12 bolt housing flanges were the same as 10 bolt, but the G body was one of the first cars to not have that "standard" flange any more.

Just look up 10/12 bolt disc conversions. Everything from using that cheap metric caliper like I mentioned to full blown wilwood etc.

What do you use for brackets? I plan on converting to disc in the future

Didn't watch the videos posted above (I will), but here is more information on LS1 brake conversion for G-bodies.

I just noticed this link I posted was for fronts. Watched some of the video for rears and that's how I did it. Looks good!

I'm interested to know what you plan on doing and end up going with. I have a 12 bolt in my cutlass and I'm looking to do the same with my rear brakes.
