I have an 85 cutlass with an olds 455 and Im trying to decide what rear i wanna use. Ive been wanting to do a 9" rear with 3.70 gears but I dont know how well that will work. Its gonna be a street/strip. But yeah let me know what you think or if its a bad idea.

What transmission are you planning on using?

I have a TH400 and an 8.5" with 3.73's in my car, and I love it, but without overdrive, going down the highway is kind of a bear. Mine is mostly a street car, that will see the occasional trip down the strip. I eventually plan on swapping the 200-4R back in when the funds allow. But if I do keep the 400, I'll definately switch to a lower gear, probably a 3.23 or something.

I have 3.73s in mine too, with a TH350. Awesome on the street. But not so cool when RPS are over 3500 going down the highway lol.

I dont think id have it out on the highway to much but the closest drag strip is 45 min away and i dont have a truck or trailer ha ha. But I will deffinetley drive it around town quite a bit

I have a 9" ford under mine .
but I went 4 link + panhard rod
quite $$$$$

9" would be the most versatile rear for this application. I sell Moser Bolt In housing and axles for this. I sell this for $895 with up to 35 spline axles. Moser sells it for $960. email [email protected] with questions. Thanks.
