REAR END

Need more info.
- Is there something wrong with it?
- Is this 350 making good power and your worried about breaking it?
- Is the gear too steep?
Need to know before we can answer.

Unless you're putting over 400 HP & TQ TO THE WHEELS and are running at the strip on sticky slicks..... don't worry about it. The 7.5 gets an unfair bad rap. Guys who have broken them were either laying down some serious power on slicks or aren't telling the truth about what he/she was doing to the car when it broke.

I work on a circle tack car and last year in a thunder car out of about 30 cars most were running a 7.5 rear end and not one of them had a failure....we even had to cut a bent tube off one to remove the axle after it slammed to wall....other than than the bent axle we reinstalled the carrier and all the gears into another housing and that car raced that nite...there's nothing wrong with a 7.5.....

THANKS GUYS WHAT A BIG RELIEF THAT IS TO HEAR

I DON'T PLAN ON DOING ANY RACING FOR NOW THE CAR IS GOING TO BE A EVERYDAY DRIVER BUT I DO PLAN ON PUTTING 22" RIMS ON IN THE SUMMER AND I DO PLAN TO DO SOME BURNOUTS AND DOUGHNUTS

Does the love of big rims also make for a love of the caps lock key?

Please turn off your caps lock.

A 7.5 is a good rear, but 22" rims+burnouts and donuts=broken axles...

X2

A 7.5 in axle will only live under sane operating conditions behind even a mild 350. 22's are never a sane option unless you have a full sized truck. Think of all the weight they add and the additional inertia it represents! Plus, these cars don't stop all that good with 40lb wheel/tire combos, 100+lb wheel/tire combos are a recipe for disaster. Sorry, it's the one thing that 90% of the posters here tend to hate, for the above scientific reasons (among others).

I think giant wheels are just plain ugly 😉 I probably wouldn't go over 20s on a truck even.

I agree with what everyone else said. Rebuilding the rear you already have with new parts will likely provide all the strength you need for a fairly mild street setup.
