I know on the Cutlass that spoiler needs about 1/2 inch spacer and longer studs otherwise the bottom of the wing tips hit the top of the quarter panels when the trunk is closed.
I had this on another car and only used about 1/4 inch spacer and even after shaving the tips a bit they still hit.
Other than that, measure then re-measure and measure again to make sure its on even.
I had that same spoiler on my '86 gp and it looked great. I measured the spoiler to find the middle and did the same on the trunk lid ot get it in the center. I put a piece of cardboard on the trunk and then set the spoiler on it and moved it fore and aft to find where it looked the best. Drill holes and I used RTV to seal the holes so no water would get in the trunk.
