Rearend Swap to GM 12-Bolt

No I don't think I'll need a 12 bolt... I plan on building the hottest motor I can to run on cheap gas so I am just guessing that means about 9:1 compression at most to run on 87 or 91.

I've been looking through Jegs and Summit... I dunno exactly yet since I'm in the planning stage and haven't bought anything yet. But at the moment I'm planning on runnin Edlebrock performer RPM manifold, with roller cam and and full roller rockers, with 2.07 intake and 1.71 exhaust valves in stock 455 or 425 heads with just port clean up and gasket matching. Cheapo flow tech or headman headers, and a Holley or Carter/Edlebrock carb pry about 850 CFM, with a choke since it'll be a year round daily driver. I dunno maybe 450 hp tops? What do you think?

The ten bolt can pry handle that I am just looking for a budget solution since I have kinda meager means to spend on this project. I can only spend a little at a time... I plan to build everything out of the car, and then swap it all in at once or in stages.

I have my 12 bolt from a 69 Chevelle getting ready to go in. I have the upper and lower control arms form UMI and they make the control arms just for the 12 bolt swap to the G-Body. The angles and so forth are correct for the upper ears on the A-Body rear. They are powder coated and Ryan is awesome to work with. CHeck out there site at http://www.umiperformance.com/3019

IIRC the upper ears on the B-body(Impala) 12bolts are in a lower and more spread out position than the Chevelle style rear end. It can still be used but you will have to have a set of wheels with alot of backspacing. As far as suspension pieces, here's a few links to get you started. TRZ is prob the best, and DM Products is prob the most reasonably priced, but all of them make good quality pieces. Good luck.

This last link is for a co called Baseline Suspensions, they are excellent for suspension theory and advice on setting up your suspension properly. They also make some really nice produt too. Good luck with it.
