Careful. I couldn't find any specs on it that confirmed or denied the presence of propane or butane. Both are good at making systems cold but aren't too safe.
Can anyone find specs on Enviro-safe? If it isn't flammable, I might give it a shot.
I found this in their FAQ list.
Is Enviro-safe Refrigerant flammable?
Yes! Enviro-Safe™ Refrigerants are hydrocarbons and flammable to an open flame or spark and is rated as a Flammable Gas 2.

All great info. 69hurstolds, since I'll be replacing all parts of my AC system, would the evaporator and new hoses from an 85 cutlass fit and work in my 80? Would this solve the different connection issue? I'd like to use the cross flow condensor listed earlier as well.

My system did not suffer a failure that I'm aware of and was functional when I pulled the 3.8 V6 engine a few years back.

I am running a serpentine belt system on my 383 sbc. Any advise on what compressor to use? I think I currently have the old compressor from an 88 chevy truck that I pulled the serp belt brackets and accessories.

Sounds like they're skirting the issue a bit.
 
There's nothing wrong with an R124a retrofit, especially if you're replacing everything

As far as orifice tubes, I just buy the one for a 95 C1500 truck

I converted the A/C in my old coupe, it blew as cold as I wanted here in Oklahoma. I also had ALL the ductwork out of the car, cleaned inside and out, resealed everything. Cleaned Evap and case as well. A crossflow condensor would have been the only thing I would have changed, although I really didn't have any beef with the sstem post-conversion. Only complaint was low air velocity through the ducts at idle

You carry a lot of flammable liquid around in the car anytime it's being driven......just saying

I have read that the use of hydrocarbons in A/C systems is common elsewhere in the world, but have no practical experience with non-US systems.

I'm thinking you could likely change to 85-up stuff if you replaced ALL the components. I cannot be sure, but I think the threads and connection sizes changed from 85 and up. But I believe the Evap case would hold an 85 evap, and the rest of the components should bolt up if you're using them all from the same year car. Or you can mix and match if it actually connects up. A lot of ways to skin the cat.
 
It contains an Iso-butane blend with flame retardants and is much more safe than R-134a. It's flashpoint is higher and it is non-toxic and does not harm the atmosphere. And don't forget R-134a is a known carcinogen, it causes testicular cancer. No thanks... Countries in Europe and Australia have been using these refrigerants for over 30 years.
