rebuilt carb not idling

i just rebuilt my carb because it wouldnt start after a day of sitting so i epoxied the wells and changed all gaskets and parts
its for a 1983 oldsmobile cutlass calais
305 th250
quadrajet
when i start it it wont idle at all will just die but if i keep my foot on the throttle it stays lite and runs F*CKIN wicked for a 305

My old 500cfm Edelbrock had the same symptoms. It would stall and load up at idle unless you kept the rpms like 300 above idle. It turned out to be a booster the the carb dripping at idle.

Did you replace the idle pickup tubes during your rebuild?

What happens when you afjust the idle fuel mixture screws?

i havent touched those yet as i never touched them when i rebuilt the carb as it idled beautifully before this

actually how is this suppose to be set?
this may be my problem i unscrewed it 6 turns i thought when i removed it and i put it in 6 turns when i put it back in
but thinking about it now it bottomed out on 6 turns so maybe it was 6 half turns

those are the idle mixture screws.....did you rebuild the carb without referring to a book?

forgot to hook up my pcv line to the carb
runs like a top now!!
