I thought that car was worth every bit of 30k at auction, I also thought that it was a factory astro roof car the way the pictures were presented. I considered getting registered to bid on it online. Now seeing that it is a after market moon roof, I am not so sure. That is a big deal when it comes to the value of a turbo buick, it is stuff like that that makes the prices for turbo buicks all over the place. This in "my personal opinion" makes this a molested car being that it is not factory original and unfortunately left the dealer that way. That really stinks, the color combo on this car is awesome! The color combo is what made this car stand out.
Going with your opinion, original Shelby Mustangs, Yenko cars even the GNX were MOLESTED

That's the first time I have ever heard of a GNX that had a "dealer" installed package.... The moon roof installed was not a authorized modification by GM, it was 100% aftermarket. No point in arguing about it, like I said, it was my opinion. I have personally owned a regal with the same roof installed in it, it was terrible. The way they drained those units was right into the A pillar causing rust in the entire pillar and rocker, I would avoid them like the plague. Not to mention finding parts such as the trunk mounted motor, good luck.

The GNX engines were outsourced, not built on the GM line

The GNX went to ASC directly off of the assembly line, it was a collaboration between them and GM therefore they are not a dealer package such as a cutlass gt for example. The moon roof on this car was installed after the car was built, sent to the dealer and then was likely requested by the purchaser to have installed. Take it however you want, the aftermarket moon roof on this car brings the value down

TOTALY AGREE about the moonroof !! I won’t have anything to do with moon/sun roofs. When my wife bought her last new vehicle, the dealer had to bring one in from out of state that DIDNT have one.

I have to respectfully disagree about the GNX motor's being outsourced. GM had sent normal GN's in batches to ASC Mclaren where they performed all the modifications there. For instance, they would remove the factory turbocharger, intercooler, GN wheels and do other INTENSIVE modifications inclusive of plasma cutting the wheel well openings to accommodate the larger and wider wheels and tires ect ect. In fact ASC had piles of factory parts they actually sold to anyone who had cash and a truck to haul them away. Pretty neat history right there. But yeah, in theory, the GNX was basically a modified and molested car you purchased straight from the dealer in essence.

I guess in my mind a dealer installed option is something that happens at the dealer, sun roof, fender flares, styling package that was not factory.... The GNX was built and then distributed to dealers. However you look at it, that moon roof had nothing to do with GM

I was around and working at a Olds/ Buick dealer when GNX came out. I do agree it started as a GN with the RPO T2L going by memory and body cowl plate that had the letters GNX stamped on the plate. They were sent to ASC for the conversion just like blk7gxn had mentioned, there was a GM memo sent to all Buick dealers that stated that specific GNX parts will not be sold to a customer that didn't own a GNX. If you owned one and needed a part you had to provide your VIN# name and address and registration as proof. I cant remember if the dealer had a copy of all GNX VIN's or they contacted ASC to verify a VIN. You wouldn't believe how many pissed off GN owners got turned away at the parts counter trying to order GNX parts. I think the turbo ASC installed had a number on it so they can track it. First time I heard about ASC selling GNX parts to anyone, they were very strict when it came to parts, but I can see a few parts walking out the back door. Would a dealer installed sunroof decrease a value on a GNX, yes it was never a factory option same with T-Tops. Is a GNX considered a molested car well everyone has there own opinion but I say no, it has its own RPO. That's like saying the 83/84 Hurst, 1982 Buick GN, 1981 Buick Pace car done by C&C are considered molested cars but have there own RPO. A molested car too me is a Yenko, Baldwin Motion cars.
