has anyone refinished there rallye Rims for there cutlass I have a set in my garage that i want to redo but they have minor rusting how can i redo them ?

i just did mine, they were light blue, 2 had good metal and paint 2 were starting to rust, i just scuffed them up with a red 3m scotch brite pad and sprayed them with black rustoleum, the trim rings and center caps covered up the rust that there was and they look great

When you're looking at the wheels with all the trim removed, the painted area looks massive. When you put all the trim back on, there's almost nothing left. Mine weren't too bad to start with, but I put way more time into them than I would have if I had considered how hard the paint work would be to see.

If they are justed painted and not chromed,I would have the tires removed, them I would have them glass beaded, remove trim, wheel weights, valve stem and wash them before having them blasted. Take them to a body shop and have them prime and paint them. Before you spend any money on them make sure the rims are not bent and that the lug nut holes are not elongated/out of round. The above costs $$,you could just clean them scuff and spray bomb them

I had my 73 & 77 442 rims sandblasted, and painted the original base/clear color, and had the stainless trim pieces polished
