Ok, so the last few days i have been trying to get this rust spot taken care of, but i cant seem to be able to get this piece of trim off and its really holding me up because i want to get it painted but the guy i want to do it doesnt want to have to take all the chrome off. Some sites say its just a few clips and others say that i need to remove the whole window. Any input would be great

if I remember correctly there are 5 speed nuts (maybe 6) holding the trim, remove them and push the window out which isn't easy with the butyl sealing the window. Don't worry about saving the butyl cause it's not expansive. To get to the speed nuts you have to remove the interior panel

Not sure if I missed it but what kind of car are you working on?When you say 1/4 window trim it sounds like Malibu. If its a Malibu yes you definately need to remove the window to remove the lower window trim. The trim is held on by a few screws from the inside and behind the glass.Just for your info if you do remove window, they sell that trim new.Would be a good chance to replace it if needed.

same as mentioned above. Remove the rear seats, bottom plastic trim then the top around the window ( unbolt the seat belt anchor will help ). Then you can get access the speed nuts holding the window in. I had to replace that glass in my '80 Calais 3x from break ins.

is removing the window easy? or is it a b*tch to get out

When I took my rear 1/4 windows out, I didn't remove the rear seat. Although it might have been a little easier. I just released the interior window plastics and stuck a ratchet wrench in there and released the speed nuts. Then just push on the glass, evenly, from the inside and the glass will work its way out. Good luck and take your time.

why would that matter one way or another, it's a job that needs to be done and wondering about it doesn't help....plus no job is as bad as you think once it's done

Last night I pretty much got the window out, the only thing i didnt do was cut the tape holding it in. I had to pop the seat out to get to some of the screws holding the plastic but that was nothing. Thanks for the info
