replace trunk struts?

My trunk struts are dead on my 81 cut supreme
But after looking at them to plan going about replacing them

I’m noticing they aren’t just simply bolted on

Any trick to replacing these?

I've used a small pry bar/fair sized screwdriver with just enough pressure to work them off. The heads have like a retaining spring set up to lock them to lock them on the ball end.

Ok perfect

There’s a thing metal clip that kinda wraps around the open end
And holds it in that groove

Little bit of a screwdriver pry and it was off
