replacement front windshield

When I bought my Malibu it needed a windshield right away. I had our windshield guy from my work put one in and it has been fine. I think it might be a Mexico made windshield with the blue strip across the top and I elected to NOT have the antenna inside the windshield. I'm happy.

Quality will vary. Waviness, and shade color, as applicable, could vary as well. Get with your local auto glass shop, they should be able to steer you in the right direction. If you buy one from somewhere and have it shipped, that's almost double the price, so it effectively makes going local a no-brainer most of the time. Get a quote and see what they say. Plus, it's much easier to get the local guys to fix a mistake if they install it and there's issues, 99% of the time. Usually, the cheaper it is, the lower the quality. And normally there are different levels to fit every budget. Or there used to be. I can't tell you for sure any more. Normally the OEM's were made by mostly LOF with a few PPG, but the aftermarket varies widely.

Shouldn't cost more than 225-300 or so for a decent one. Try to get one with the mirror mount already installed if you can. They do have them. Just don't know what brands.

Mine was in that price range. Fits great. No ripples in the glass. Nice. Clean. Clear.

I had one installed last July. It was $260 CAD. Local mobile glass guy came and installed it in my garage on a Saturday. I had the glass out to inspect the frame for rust as I was chasing a leaky windshield. Not sure if that made a difference in price. The window is a really nice piece good optics and no distortion near the curves.

Someone had tried to steal my old Malibu wagon. I had a hidden kill switch. They got mad and smashed my windshield. A local SAFELITE replaced it with the antenna inside for around $200. They did a real good job.

Ouch! I thought of doing this with my LeMans, I heard about it being an old-school sorta-trick to kill power to the distributor. need to look more into it.

There are several ways to do it. All work. A thief is not going to waste time looking for a kill switch. Most just crack the column open and push the rod that works the actual ignition switch. I also like the old type column cuffs that surround that part with a steel cuff and a padlock. Thieves are lazy and will pass up inconvenient problems.

For my Regal I put a kill switch under the hood and it kills power to the entire car and then I added Hood locks to the steel Hood

Cost me $200 to have my Regal's windshield replaced years ago by a local glass shop.

They sell remote control kill switchs for kids ATVs. Also seen people use hidden magnetic reed switchs. Not much can stop a tow truck through, just make sure you are not being tailed.
