The reverse lights on my 85' 442 are not working, I've checked the bulbs and socket and everything seems fine.
Also my gas gauge never reads right, seems to always be on full but I've noticed when the tank is low gas the gauge dips down to empty when I accelarate.
Please help.....

here's a diagram for the back up lites, I'd start out at the switch on the column to make sure one side is hot, if it is and you put it in reverse then both sides would be hot, it they are not it's the switch, if they are it's in the wiring..

Does it make a difference if I have a floor shifter?
And is there suppose to be any wiring on the shifter itself other than the lighting ones?

you'll find the switch on the top of the column near the firewall, the easiest way to find it is to drop the column

I have an 81 Cutlass with a column shifter and if I don't wiggle it when I put it in reverse the lights don't come on. As for the fuel gauge, my does that as well. Maybe it's the float, I'm not sure.

most of the time its on full, but when the tank is nearing low on fuel it dips down at times, most times during accelaration or if the tank is empty.
