Ring gear Sizes

I just bought a new posi unit from a f body and I guess its a 7.625, well I bought my ring gear before I bought the unit and its 7.5. when I put the gear on the posi theres about 1/8 inch gap between the unit and the ring is that normal or do I need a bigger ring gear? I was told they are the same but...not sure, Thanks for HELP!!

you need to get a 7 5/8 ring gear and the matching pinion. The ring gear you have is sitting on the radius on the carrier and that's why you have that gap. The other thing you need to check if you don't already know is the side gears, some were 26 spline and some were 28 spline. If they are 28 spline that's nice upgrade from the 26

That makes sense, yeah it is a 28 spline...Thanks for your help
