Have mercy.

Yeah sad news. He helped make the soundtrack of my youth, and life.

I was stationed in Germany in the early 70's. I was on CQ when there was a complaint of loud music up on the top floor. I went up there and a bunch of guys from Texas who worked in Battalion Maintenance were drunk off thier asses and listening to FANDANGO! I was so impressed I just said "carry on" and left. This was WAY before they became a household name. And of course that '34 Ford ELIMINATOR was just beyond cool. RIP Dusty.

I never managed to see them live. In the spring of 2020 we were planning a little getaway to see ZZ Top in Gruene Hall in New Braunfels. It would have been a cool show but the pandemic set in and it got canceled.

Yes sir..... I wanted to catch them in a small venue & that would have been a good choice but the shutdown eliminated the possibility.

I saw them live in 1982 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Im feeling kind of old with these rockers that were around when I was a teen are all slowly passing away. Long live rock!

When my niece was in middle school, I used to stick around the house to see that she got on the bus each morning. One cool, rainy morning I had her sit in my truck with me while we waited for the bus. A good 20 minutes into the wait, probably 10 minutes after the bus should have come and gone, I exclaimed "Have Mercy!". Of course, she had no idea what I was talking about so I explained it, connected my phone to the radio in my truck and played "Waitin on the bus/Jesus just left Chicago". She gained appreciation for ZZ Top that morning. The bus never showed up. It had broken down. I took her to school. A quality memory.
