I am looking to replace my sloppy base model steering box with a remanufactured sport box.
was looking at the
A-1 CARDONE Part # 276550
LARES Part # 1354
ATSCO Part # 6561

is there any real difference between the boxes? anyone have a review from using one of the listed boxes.

I run a lares 1282 and love it.

did you look at the details of the boxes you listed?

A-1 CARDONE Part # 276550 - 32 spline
LARES Part # 1354 - 25 spline - Turns Lock to Lock Quantity: 3 - 3.25 (not a sport box)
ATSCO Part # 6561 -26 spline applicable vehicle - camaro

What is the difference between the 1282 and the other boxes?

It's the close ratio tight valving 2.25 turn lock to lock box said to fit the ws6 trans am. Feels awesome

well since my car is an 81 Malibu and seems to have a 26 spline box I guess my only choice would be the 6561 0r 1282. cant see .25 difference in clocking rotation between the the 2 boxes being worth double the price. I will pop my steering shaft tomarrow to double check the spline count now that I see gm decided to make so many different spline counts for the same chassis.

to my knowledge its better valving as well. the other box is the pinky steer granny style box. but thats just my opinion. i bought mine from advance for close to the same price but it made my core return much easier.
