you could use the 4wd spindles and just use a freeze plug to drive in the open hole to keep dirt out

Even with the axle holding it together, if the torque spec on the axle nut is incorrect the bearing will fail prematurely. You might want to use a 2WD specific hub assembly just to be safe.
