so I went out for lunch yesterday everything was normal (engine smokes a little at start up)
went to leave after lunch and pulled out on the road and I noticed I was just smoking like crazy
I got home pulled the plugs from the drivers side and compression was between 110 and 140 psi
als
this is on the pcv side
engine is a 305 in a 1983 oldsmobile cutlass Calais
i just tested the passenger side cylinders and they are all between 110-140psi
i pulled the pcv valve and tested it and it works as it should but has excessive oil in it
i am wondering if its the cheap push in grommet/baffle in my mickey thompson valve covers?

anyone have any clues what it could be? or what else I could test?

I just changed my nice looking tall aluminum valve covers that no matter what baffle I tried I always had an oil soaked pcv. I replaced the tall valve covers with the stock valve cover stopped using oil. I would go through a quart of oil in probably six hundred miles

I tried these two types baffles with no luck, the one that is in jeremy's link looks like it might work

so i just put a original valve cover on the pcv side and the smoking is a lot less
i need to block open the exhaust valve after the manifold on the passenger side as i heard that causes a lot of blow by
should i run some seafoam through the engine to maybe clear up any of the excess oil?

took it for a 15 min ride last night and burnt any of the excess residue off
so i guess its time to build some baffles for my mickey thompsons

most valve covers you buy are not made right for daily use when ever i buy some valve covers i at a baffle or two to mimic the factory valve cover.
