Do you plan on redoing the entire interior or just seats and carpet?Am I gonna have issues finding a dark brown carpet kit too?
everything!Do you plan on redoing the entire interior or just seats and carpet?
I'm actually on there right now looking at stuff see what I can put together. ThanksStockinteriors sells brown carpet for your wagon but if you are considering a color change you doing the same amount of work redoing everything.
I have bought carpet and yardage of material from them and they will send you free samples of whatever shade you are considering.
NO. $100 for Cutlass buckets is a good price. If they have the big chrome side covers that can be an issue. My 78 Cutlass had buckets without the side chrome covers but I ended up with another set from an 84 Cutlass that has the chrome covers. I ordered new seat covers from Dixie Monte Carlo for a Malibu and bought 2 extra yards of the cloth to do my door panels myself. After further inspection of the chrome side covers, the chrome was wrinkled and peeling. I never found a nice used set so I bought new. I think the new chrome side cover set was more expensive than the seat covers and extra material. Lol.are the 2 door rear seats as same as the 4 door?
Ok. thanks alot i appreciate the advise and the seats do have the chrome on them and its missing a piece on each seat. i didnt look into finding them yet but i figured it would be costly. i might just keep checking lkq and see if i can find regal buckets and go from there. im not in a rush i just want a good game plan when i start which will be a couple months from now. im gonna check local upholstery shops and see how much they will charge me.One thing I might mention about the chrome side covers on the Cutlass buckets if the chrome covers are in bad shape= An alternative might be to soak the chrome side covers in a pan of dot3 brake fluid for a day or two. I remember this was an old model car trick to remove chrome from plastic. Then you could use dish soap and hot water then wax and grease remover to get rid of the brake fluid residue. They could then be painted a matching interior color with SEM vinyl dye/plastic paint or just a satin black. I thought about going this route but I had to have the chrome. I actually peeled the chrome off of one of my old ones when I was thinking of painting them. It was wrinkled up real bad. I don't know if the brake fluid trick will work on them personally but it did work on model car parts. There is a difference in plastic model chrome and automotive grade chrome though.
