Seat torque box install question

guys, complete floor pan is in on my 78 monte. The body is on a rotisserie. I can get the seat Box crossmember welded in using the traced pattern on sides, not problem there. I think I can get the forward seat boxes close using the old pan on top as a trace. This seem right? Also, any real difference in seam sealers? We have a local Sherwin Williams auto supply close, so I thought I'd use what they recommend. Thx

any current seam sealer will be an improvement over the flammable seam sealer GM used on the G body
