As far as the Owl Cam, it's probably a good system. At 349 it better be. Someone would break into your car just to get that. 🙂

I currently am using the Garmin dash cams for the past few years. Doesn't have cell connection, but they're small enough you can pop it off the dash and take it with you and take still pics as well. Has crash sensors in it that won't allow loop recording over the "event", GPS to monitor speed and location of event, and a wide angle lens. Records sounds in the cabin as well (so you can hear the "oh f**k!!")

This is the main reason I got it was to protect me against scammers, but also it can tell the truth on a he said/she said type of thing in the event of a collision.

Does look like a cool system, but then you are going to be paying the 100 a year for the services. I had been looking at something like this myself to get the front and rear of the car covered http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5335822911&icep_item=302692653024 And can now officially kick myself for coming up with the idea of being able to record whoever damaged your car 20 years ago and never making millions off of it :doh:Although truth be told my idea was to have a hidden camera facing out towards your door to see the person doing the door dings/breaking into your car.

Ive only ever went with the cheapo's and while the video quality might be sub-par, they've worked. I didn't get it for the video quality, I got it to record. A Lower video quality still shows what happened.. (Not low enough you couldn't read a license plate, mind you). Its still in the wifes car, working every day..

I was actually looking at one thats in the rear view mirror and has a backup camera/video-in (switch to video in to display, say, GPS from your phone in the screen on the mirror).

I got a couple things to do to the car before that, but.. its on the list somewhere 😀

I use a mini dashcam 0809 and it hides behind the rear view mirror so I don't even know it's there. The videos are great during the day and at nite.

Many years ago, I installed a mini 0801 dashcam in my Jeep. I did this not so much to record day-to-day driving (because I rarely drive that vehicle) but rather to record my trail runs. After a couple years, I decided I ought to put a camera in other vehicles that I actually do drive... so I put a Viofo A119S in my tow rig Suburban. Soon after that, I put another A119S in my little Metro. I like this camera better than the mini due to the improved video quality, but that is to be expected since the A119S uses a newer chipset.

Now my only running car without a camera is the Grand Prix.

Smart move..... no evidence that can be used against you!!!!

I can turn off the GPS on mine and it has saved me from getting charged cause some idiot on a bycycle said I tried to run him over....my son got his BMW fixed from little rocks falling from a truck on the highway thanks to his dashcam being able to read the licence plate, you could see the rocks and the sound of the ones that hit his car. His repair bill was a little over $3,000
