Is there some kind of way I can chemically treat the bare sheet-metal work on my car to prevent/ inhibit minor surface rust while I get it ready for a complete epoxy-based primer job? It's getting humid here in northern Illinois and I notice the metal is starting to flash with minor surface rust. Please help! Spraying the body with primer for the time being isn't the most ideal thing to do while prepping it for paint for me.

How long are you gonna wait to paint it? Cant you keep it indoors?

I'm hoping to paint it in the next few weeks. It is indoor, but the humidity is starting to get to it......I'm starting to notice faint spots of surface rust on my bare metal. Isn't there a phosphoric based chemical to help treat the areas with minor flash rusting while in waiting for the primer?

There is a Product called "Never - Dull" a Brand of Metal Polish just wipe it on the surface Gently. it will keep your metal Clear of Surface Rust until you are ready to Paint. Just Make sure you Clean it good with a good Degreaser. I would use a Good Wash with some Dawn and Dry it good before you start your Normal Paint Prep.
